As our name suggests, our team of experienced mechanics can handle everything from urgent repairs through to preventative maintenance and LPG conversions and repairs. So whether you manage a fleet or own a single car, we’ll make sure your vehicle remains safe and in top condition.
That’s because it’s more than just a job for us.
Cars are our passion. We love cars. Vintage cars. Classic cars. High performance cars. Family cars. Little round the town runabouts. You’ll see that passion reflected in the care we take when working on your car. In the quality of our workmanship and attention to detail.
Something else that sets us apart is our servicing. We strongly recommend that you have your car regularly serviced – every 10,000km is a good rule of thumb. It’s a good way to solve any potential problems or wear and tear before they become BIG problems. It also means your car will be running as well (and cost-efficiently) as it possibly can be. Some companies consider that a service means changing the oil and filter. But there’s a lot more that makes your car run than oil and an oil filter. That’s why our service is a lot more indepth. We check all the components that make your car run, so it continues to run, and run, and run.
After all, we know how important your car is to you. And how you want to feel safe when you get behind the wheel.
The team who will keep your car safe and reliable.
Ross Golding
Some people say Ross has oil instead of blood running through his veins. Being a mechanic is certainly part of this DNA. His grandfather was a mechanic. His father was a mechanic. All of Ross’ brothers are mechanics. Ross has been a mechanic since before he left school (he helped out at his father’s Mt Eden workshop after school and in the school holidays). Ross started his apprenticeship with Johns & Gee in Newton in 1982, where his training included fitting and servicing IMPCO LPG & CNG equipment. Alternative fuels were very new back then and it triggered a lifetime love affair for Ross and LPG. In his thirty-plus years as a mechanic, Ross has been able to turn his hand to all types of vehicles; old, new, models straight out of chitty-chitty-bang-bang to high performance race cars, from old-school carburettors to latest technology fuel injection and electronics.
Murray Golding
Murray has worked at Fuel Conversions since leaving school (although he does admit to a brief stint in Australia). Being part of the family, Murray has a born love of cars and this shows in his thorough servicing skills and his eye for finding any faults before they become a major headache for the customer. He knows all about LPG installations and takes the time and care needed to make sure the installation integrates with your car seamlessly.
Craig Perkins
Craig served his apprenticeship in the 1980s and has worked at some high profile dealerships in the Auckland area. During his career as a mechanic, Craig has been involved with all types of automotive servicing and repairs. He knows cars inside and out. Regardless of the age of your car, Craig has the know-how and experience to keep it in tip-top condition.
Sue Golding
Sue is the friendly face who greets you when you visit the office or the cheerful voice on the end of the phone when you call. Sue has been with the business since 1996, so she can usually help with any queries you might have. Along with general day-to-day office duties, Sue organises our LPG parts from overseas and processes orders from our New Zealand customers and distributes them to other installers around the country.
